Van drives 20 blocks with motorcycle embedded in grill

April 28th, 2007 by Dave

Being an avid motorcycle rider myself I was pretty disgusted after reading this. I seriously hope the guy on the R6 wasn’t hurt too bad. As for the guy driving the van… hopefully a Harley rider in jail shows him a little jail-time love. A-hole!

Man drives 20 blocks with R6 in grill

My wife and I were driving home last night, after spending the weekend on Lopez Island with some friends. After getting off the freeway, we were approaching the light at 175th and Meridian, when I see a guy on a motorcycle coming down the hill (eastbound on 175th) with a fullsize van barrelling down behind him. Before I could even think about what was about to happen, it happened. The van went right through him and sent the motorcylist off the bike and rolling to the ground.

The van continues right down without even braking the hill without losing momentum and takes a left (northbound) onto Meridian Ave. I look up the hill and see the rider getup and run out of the street, with a dozen cars stopped around him. “Holy fucking shit” - My wife and I cannot really believe what we are seeing. Seeing that the guy was apparently okay (not dead, at least) and that there were several people around, I take off after the van. My wife immediately gets on the phone with 911.

After 20 blocks and one red light, the guy finally pulls over . . . R6 still planted in grill.

The Ventureone is a bad ass

March 2nd, 2007 by Dave

Now I would definitely drive one of these in San Diego. Why does Europe get all the fun toys first? It’s not fair!

enclosed-motorbike.jpg

Is it a car or a motorbike? Actually, it’s both!

The three-wheeled machine - a modern day version of the Robin Reliant - runs on both petrol and electric yet can accelerate from 0 to 60mph is six seconds.

Its narrow 40 inch width means that two of them can drive side-by-side, helping to ease congestion in the busiest of cities.

And the 100kw electric motor will ensure that gas emissions are dramatically lower than a small family car.

The machine, called the VentureOne, has a small combustion engine which constantly charges the battery while driving.

But for a more eco-friendly drive, a 18 minute charge in the household mains will power the vehicle.

Hidden under the bubble exterior is a revolutionary tilting system which helps the VentureOne glide around bends like a motorcycle. However, the lightweight 1,200lbs vehicle also features a steering wheel, airbags and bumpers like a motor car.

It is fully enclosed with a 360 degree glass canopy roof so both passengers can get a full view of their journey while being protected from the elements.

It has been designed and built by US-based Venture Vehicles, which hopes to put it on sale in the UK by 2006 for 11,000 pounds.

Ian Bruce, co-founder of the Venture Vehicles, said: “The vehicle is a hybrid form of transportation meaning it uses both electric and fuel.

“This not only makes it very cost effective but it will also help the environment and congestion problems.

“If you increased the size of all the vehicles on the road by 10 per cent then everyone’s speed would reduce by 50 per cent, resulting in more congestion.

“But the VentureOne will definitely help ease up congestion as it is just 11ft long and 60 per cent thinner than a Mini Cooper.

“They are so thin that you can ride them side-by-side on a regular road.

“It only holds up to two people and uses a low amount of fuel which will help protect the environment.

“The VentureOne will achieve 100mpg with a top speed of over 100mph.

I want one now!

Never try to outrun a Japanese Biker Cop through traffic

February 5th, 2007 by Dave

Seems ridicules but this skill is essential for maneuvering the overcrowded roads of Japan. Trust me… I’ve lived there. Great riding skills. I think I could probably do that on my 954 at like 5 mph. heh

Dumb Ass Motorcycle Trickster

February 5th, 2007 by Dave

Today seems to be a vid only day. I love YouTube…..

Anyways, this guy defines the words “dumb ass.” Seeing this once was enough for me. What the hell did he expect to happen trying to pull a wheelie through a large puddle of water. To some it must be funny but along with the earlier name calling the word “ignorant” also came to mind.

I bet this vid makes Harley riders cringe in disappointment.

The motorcyclist killed was a retired Police Officer

December 22nd, 2006 by Dave

I blogged about this earlier so this is just an update post.

While not being very fond of police officers… I do like the cops in San Diego. They don’t seem to not F with you as much as cops in other parts of the country. I’ve lived everywhere from Texas, to Norfolk, to Maine, and now here… and I’m pretty fond of the guys in blue San Diego. Damn, this pisses me off.

Motorcyclist Killed In Crash Was Retired Policeman

The identity of a motorcyclist killed Thursday in a crash on Otay Lakes Road has been released.

The victim was identified as retired San Diego police Officer Sgt. Robert Gregorio.

An 18-year-old driver crashed into Gregorio’s motorcycle Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Border patrol agents began chasing the 18-year-old motorist after receiving a tip of illegal immigrant activity in the area, NBC7/39 reported.

Agents had pulled off the chase shortly before the accident.

The driver did not have a valid driver’s license, police said.

My heart goes out to the family members….
