Drunken Stepfather Served “Cease and Desist” Letter

June 29th, 2006 by Dave

you know what grinds my gears?…. stupid overly rich people who love to piss in the little man’s wheaties because they can. recently Victoria Silvstedt did a little public sexual stunt with her current fat, hairy, short boyfriend. the key word was “public.” it was in broad daylight where the world could see. it’s not the first time Ms. Silvstedt has ever shown off her stuff in public so i don’t see what the big deal was here.

seems as though a blog i frequent, Drunken Stepfather, was served a “cease and desist” from her lawyer.

I am - Victoria Silvstedt Cease and Desist of the Day

N/REF. VICTORIA SILVSTEDT INTERNET

To whom it may concern,

I am writing to you on behalf of my client, Mrs. Victoria Silvstedt.

I have been informed by Mrs. Victoria Silvstedt that a series of pictures of her are available on the Internet. These pictures are described in the report made by the Software Defence Agency (first page of which being attached hereto) and are listed hereafter as located at the following addresses:

These pictures have been taken without any authorization and against the will of my Client.

My Client did not give any authorization to exploit her image and these pictures to the following Internet site:

As the above mentioned pictures are available on the French territory, French law may apply in this matter (article 46 of the French New Code of Civil Procedure).

My Client wishes to have her private life and her image strictly respected in accordance with the terms and provisions of Article 9 of the French Civil Code which states: Everyone has the right his/her private life being respected. Without prejudice to compensation for injury suffered, the court may prescribe any measures, such as sequestration, seizure and others, appropriate to prevent or put an end to an invasion of personal privacy; in case of emergency those measures may be provided for by interim order.

As a consequence, I instruct you to remove from your website(s) the above listed illicit material or disable access to it from your Internet server:

Failing that, my Client has given me very strict instructions to bring this case before the appropriate jurisdiction and to take against you all the measures necessary to protect her rights.

You should therefore consider the present letter as a formal notice.

According to the regulations of my profession, you are not obliged to answer me directly; in that case, your usual attorney to whom you will have addressed the present formal notice can contact me at my practice.

Sincerely Yours,

Axelle SCHMITZ

kind of pisses me off. i guess they’ll also serve Google a “cease and desist” now that they’ve cached the photos in Google Images… yeah right. it really doesn’t matter because all the pics can be found in this forum in high quality out of the million other places they can be found. so i hope you’re a quick typer or fast writer because you really have your work cut out for you.

Back From Vacation w/ Email Overload

June 29th, 2006 by Dave

going on vacation is what every worker bee looks forward to. i personally don’t take vacations much because the first week back to work is always a drag. my goal is to find a job that pays a decent amount of money and i can telecommute. waking up and going to work in my boxers while sitting behind my computer would be the perfect job for me. maybe someday i’ll find that perfect job.

my vacation was the bomb. i went to Natchez Trace State Park in Tennessee and stayed in a cabin with Heather for a few days. relaxation was my goal and it certainly was met. the cabin didn’t have a phone, TV, or internet access… oh and my cell phone (Sprint service) was way out of range. the first day or so was a little painful but after a full day of drinking and sitting out on Cub Lake, humanity was forgotten. nature was now part of me… heh… along with about 31 bug bites that first day too. that’s okay though because Bud Light was my savior.

i took quite a bit of photos which can be viewed on my Picasa Web Album - Tennessee Vacation. there’s like 179 photos in that album.

we did almost everything from swimming to fishing to exploring. the fishing part was forced on me by Heather. i’ve never been much of a fisherman even though my Mom used to catch massive amounts of catfish when i was a kid. i only caught a baby perch. Heather caught a lot of perch and one small Large Mouth Bass. the next to last day of being there we planned to go horse back riding but out of all the days of the Equestrian Center being closed it was closed on that Monday. so we just chilled that day and went swimming later. all in all it was pretty damn good… i’m still on vacation and work is creeping around the corner coming this Monday.

*reaches down to grab another beer*

Britney Spears Poses Naked For Harper’s Bazaar

June 28th, 2006 by Dave

ah….. vacation has certainly treated me well. i spent the last week or so without internet, phone, or tv. i’ll talk more about that in a later post with pics.

i’ve never been a Britney Spears fan at all and it would take a lot to even blog about something that disgusts me, but she really did it this time. Demi Moore posed pregnant for Vanity Fair a few years back but she was damn hot doing it. Britney just shows off her trailer trash image even more. all of us know it’s just a publicity stunt but there’s a reason why every actress or singer out there doesn’t do this. some look damn ugly pregnant… yes, yes i know. women can’t help the fact that they blow up during pregnancy and personally i think it’s beautiful thing when a woman is pregnant as long as she didn’t start out 200 lbs overweight and now is 350 over. let’s face it… Britney is damn hot when she’s skinny but her extra fatty face and sunken in eyes now are not attractive at all.

anyways, i just had to rant a bit and say that it was a little effort finding high quality images of her shoot that weren’t graphited before posting to a lot of web sites. i kind of found these from a few places and pieced them together. i think that if you actually cut out her neck up in all the photos then they’re not bad…. i’m also pretty sure the guy/ girl who did the Photoshop job had his work cut out for him. so kudos to him. well, here they are:

you can also view and download the pics from my Picasa Web Album - Celebrities.

update: seems as though Google’s Picasa Web doesn’t let websites pull images from their servers… pretty damn weird to me since i’m also using Blogger. well, whatever.

Googles Picasa beta Mini Review

June 23rd, 2006 by Dave

well, sitting here in my cabin in the middle of the woods on vacation sparked a mini review idea while playing around with Google’s new Picasa beta. i don’t have internet access of any kind (wi-fi, cell phone, or landline) so this won’t be posted till early next week.

i’ve already uploaded about 800 megs of photos to Google’s new Picasa Web and i absolutely love most every aspect of it except not being able to upload photos privately. this will more than likely be changed sometime in the near future.

just starting Picasa up is a joy because of the well designed fly in application intro screen. after the intro fades out the main menu pops up where you’re greeted with an abundance of features that are laid out in a way that doesn’t over power the casual user.

the directory on the left which houses albums put together by you or folders which were found automatically by Picasa or mapped manually by yourself. at the bottom of the main menu are some quick functions which are only used in the current thumbnail view. photo rotation, starring, and other functions which involve selecting multiple photos are included. going back to the top left you’ll find you’re able to quickly import from external devices, view the selected selection in a slideshow, browse all photos by timeline view, or create a gift CD that’s by far the easiest i’ve ever seen in any photo management software. lets not forget that Picasa was later bought by Google and what do we see at the top right… yep… search built in. the search tool will search any text associated with the photo you’re looking for. what’s also cool is that you can search by timeline and search your online photos uploaded to Picasa Web.

double clicking on any photo brings you here.

the bottom pane doesn’t change much except for a quick zoom button on the right and the blue/ yellow/ red icon which will bring up your histogram and camera information. the left menu pane is the biggest difference that houses all the current photo editing tools available. this menu is broken up into Basic Fixes, Tuning, and Effects. most of the time i never even have to leave Basic Fixes. cropping, red eye reduction, straightening, and “I’m Feeling Lucky” are right at my finger tips. i use the “I’m Feeling Lucky” function all the time because Picasa actually does a very good job automatically adjusting light, color, and contrast to suit my taste.

as for the very top left menu pane with pull down menu selection…. i’m not even going to touch those because there are just way too many functions to list in this mini review. the only function in the pull down menus which was very peculiar to me was the experimental features. “Publish via FTP”, “Show Duplicate Files”, “Search For…” and then your choice of color, and finally “Upload to Google video” are listed. i didn’t get a chance to test any except color and i was surprised that it picked up some and left out a lot. so i see why it would be listed as experimental… fair enough.

Summary: overall a very elegant, refined, practical tool from Google’s Picasa Team. i personally haven’t ever run across another free photo editing/ managing product do both quite as well. for the normal non-power user as myself, Picasa does it all plus more. edits or photo compilation which with other applications would take 30 minutes, i can knock it out with Picasa in 10. Dave definitely gives it a thumbs up!

Lost In Flickr

June 5th, 2006 by Dave

after finding the hot babe from my last post via Flickr, i spent the next 45 minutes going through pic after pic after pic. i’ve heard some complaints about Flickr’s new UI but it works smoothly for me. the JavaScript pull down menus were a great improvement over the link clutter it used to be. well, just so i can feel like i’ve accomplished something tonight… i’m going to post a few of my favorite babes that i ran across while wasting my life away on Flickr.

from these pics you’re probably thinking i like brunettes the most. it’s just coincidence.

Top 10 Coolest BBQ Grills.

June 5th, 2006 by Dave

Top 10 Coolest BBQ Grills.: “Summer is nearly here, and with it comes the great American culinary tradition: barbecue!

BBQ is both a rite of summer and a rite of manhood (yes, BBQ is associated with male cooking, probably because any sane woman would not go near the combination fire, meat and beer). In some parts of the USA, BBQ is not just food, it’s a religion. The fastest way to start a fight is not to talk politics, but to argue about the virtues of wood vs. charcoal vs. gas. Even the word itself is kind of controversial: is it barbecue, barbeque, bar-b-q, or BBQ? Just don’t bring it up with a purist (or the one cooking your burger!)

There’s no argument, however, about the popularity of BBQ. The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association (yes, it’s a real organization - actually it is just one of many dedicated to barbecuing) did a study called ‘The State of Barbecue Industry Report’. The 2005 study[pdf] stated that 4 out of every 5 US households own a grill - in fact, 1 in 5 “
