Google Mobile Personalized Home

January 12th, 2006 by Dave

Google has been letting me down lately with their product releases. but one new one that just went live was pretty damn cool. it’s Google Mobile Personlized Home. the Google modules from your regular Google.com/ig page are compressed and used. i personally haven’t tried it out but looking at the page on my resized browser window looked really clean.

Google Video Unleashes Paid Content

January 9th, 2006 by Dave

i know Larry Page didn’t give an exact day Google would open up paid content… only thing he said was actually, “soon.” 3 days later and it’s here. here’s my first take on it.

after watching the current vids on Google Video the last few months i was pretty unimpressed. one for the content and two because of the quality. but hey… they were free right? they’re providing the storage and bandwidth so i never complained… well, out loud. so as of today between 4pm and 6pm pacific standard time their paid content went live.

there are also other small additions that i personally liked. there now is a download button allowing you to download the vid to your hard drive. so Firefox users no longer have to use the popular google video download script. when you click download you get to download the Google Video Player first. you do a quick (and i mean quick) install, start the player, and begin downloading. 2 seconds later the vid starts and downloading continues in the background.

video quality is pretty damn good compared to watching it in your browser. the video file isn’t changed at all but the player clears up a lot of the pixilation that occurs when viewing it at a large size… full screen in my case. granted… some videos are so bad that viewing them in their original size is unviewable. there should be a quality rating system put forth to weed these vids out. that’s another story.

the other cool new feature is the “Put On Site” selection which develops script so your can copy/paste into your site html. i personally haven’t tried this yet on my other sites and i haven’t heard much about it from the digg post. rest assured that my curious ass will try soon though.

one thing that did let me down though was the paid content quality. digging through the ABC shows that they had at the moment i found something that i would actually watch… the new CSI: Werewolves. i paid $1.99 for the show. the check out process was simple and quick. i was watching my show in like 20 seconds with receipt in my email inbox as long as you already have a payment method setup with Google Purchases. otherwise just enter your credit card and you’re on your way. now watching this show reminded me of watching Spiderman The Movie from a Hong Kong VCD rip. pretty damn crappy if you ask me. the file ended up to be 185Mb so it would have been smaller than a VCD actually. a VCD is around 700Mb for a 1 1/2 hr movie and CSI was about 45 minutes. this is “not” what i expect from Google. maybe the IMAX movies are better but they’re freakin $14.99… yeah right! i’ll just queue up one of those on Netflixs and watch it on my big screen.

so that’s my quick review of the *new Google Videos. we all know it’s still in beta so technically they have lee way to experiment some. let’s just hope it gets better sometime in the near future.

Knock Out Blonde Hottie

January 8th, 2006 by Dave

oh man i love hotties and porn surfing has got to be the greatest especially with broadband. i remember back in the late 90’s when i was on dial-up and it took like a few minutes to load a page full of thumbnails. times have changed and i can browse about 30 pages in Firefox in under 30 seconds. life is great!

but i just ran across this hottie who i can’t put a name to. this girl is banging out from her hair down to her toes. if kate from katesplayground.com didn’t have a hoof then she would be the hottest girl in the world but i think she has a new target=blank contender now.

so if anyone knows the name of this girl then drop me a name or link.

Yahoo!’s Terry Semel At CES 2006 (Video)

January 7th, 2006 by Dave

Yahoo! just posted their Terry Semel keynote at CES 2006. nothing too impressive except maybe Yahoo! Go. closer to the end Intel came out talking about their new Slide mini media center…. there was a not responding error on their new gadget to which Intel joking said, “I blame it on Windows.” Terry Semel quickly agreed to that. IMHO i think that was funnier than anything Ellen DeGeneres had to say. check it out for yourself though:
